I thought Dwight Yokum (“1,000 Miles”) would be a good choice to pitch this to and actually got to meet him in NYC shortly after writing this. Imagine my surprise when I handed him a cassette tape recording of it (yeah, that long ago) and he wouldn’t even touch it or let me play it for him! I don’t know if I was more disappointed or angry. Now we all realize successful artists have to cover their butts due to lawsuits and such, but come on…give a guy a break, will ya? I even offered to sign a waiver protecting him from legal culpability. Somebody gave him a break, right?

My old NYC friend Danny Creed recorded the 2nd version. Danny is a cabaret singer who is known as much for his comedic stories on stage as he is his cabaret singing. He recorded his version in 2015.

(hey Danny…I sure miss those fun “Piano Bar” NYC days!
